The Gig Wars Competition
The Gig Wars is a hands-on employability skills competition that prepares students for competitive, integrated employment. Throughout the year, students practice workplace skills such as stocking, sorting, customer service, interviewing, construction, welding, and other career-related tasks. As a culminating event, students compete at skill stations and demonstrate their abilities in a supportive, real-world environment. Community partners, employers, and educators evaluate performance using rubrics that measure task completion, workplace behavior, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. The Gig Wars builds confidence, strengthens career readiness skills, and connects classroom learning to future employment opportunities while supporting transition and work-based learning goals.
